Still Bonsai grows one bonsai tree from one sitting. If something isn't working, or you just have a question, write to me and I will answer.
Press Begin and sit. The tree grows while the clock runs — trunk, then branches, then foliage — and when the time is up the tree is finished and saved to your garden with its date and length.
The sitting length is set in Settings, anywhere from 5 to 60 minutes. Thirty minutes is the default. Tap the "of 30 min" text on the main screen to get there.
Yes. The sitting is measured against the real clock, so you can switch to another app, lock the screen or put the phone down. Come back and the tree will have grown for exactly as long as you sat. A sitting left for more than four hours is discarded rather than resumed.
Each tree is generated from scratch — its style, the lean of its trunk, the way its branches reach. Two sittings of the same length will not produce the same tree. Nothing is copied from a library of images.
No. The app works fully without it. Still Bonsai asks on your first sitting, and nothing is listened to until you allow it. When it is on, the app listens for the rhythm of your breathing so the tree can settle with it. Audio is never recorded, never saved and never sent anywhere. You can turn it off at any time in the app's own Settings, or in Settings › Privacy & Security › Microphone.
Pro is a single one-time purchase, not a subscription, and it unlocks:
Open the Pro screen — tap any locked control, such as the season name on the main screen — and choose Restore purchase. Make sure you are signed in to the same Apple Account you bought it with. Pro is family-shareable, so it also works for the members of your Family Sharing group.
Open Trees, then tap the share icon at the top left of the screen. From there you can export the newest garden, or the whole field once you have more than thirty trees. To export a single tree, tap that tree first, then the same share icon.
Trees are stored only on your device. Deleting the app deletes them, and there is no backup on a server because nothing is ever sent to one. If your trees have vanished without the app being deleted, please write to me with your iOS version and what happened just before.
Email me with your device model, your iOS version, and what you were doing when it went wrong. A screenshot helps a great deal.
Still Bonsai collects nothing. The full privacy policy explains exactly what stays on your device.
